Araneta City joins celebration of 2024 International Day for Biodiversity
Araneta City partners with the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Inclusive Growth and Regenerative Ecosystems (INSPIRE) project, Gerry Roxas Foundation, and J. Amado Foundation in holding a three-day event to commemorate International Day for Biodiversity 2024.
Themed “Be Part of the Plan,” the public event takes place from May 20 to 22 at the Quantum Skyview of Gateway Mall 2. It aims to spark public conversations, raise awareness, and inspire collective action towards protecting the Philippines’ rich biodiversity.
The highlight of the three-day celebration is a photo exhibit featuring the diverse flora and fauna found in key biodiversity areas where USAID’s INSPIRE project operates. Divided into three galleries, visitors can explore the wonders of marine, coastal, and terrestrial ecosystems in the Philippines.
The exhibit goes beyond visuals, with installations crafted from
reclaimed materials and plastic discards by renowned artist Leeroy New.
Other activities include storytelling and art sessions for children; a short talk on flowers of native trees and plants combined with a floral painting session featuring the Rafflesia flower and Waling-waling orchid; a short talk on how companies can be #PartOfThePlan; musical performances; and games to test one’s knowledge of biodiversity and win prizes.
