Araneta City welcomes canonical image of La Naval de Manila at Sagrada Familia Church

Araneta City joins the feast of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, La Naval de Manila, with the enthronement of the canonical image at the Sagrada Familia Parish in New Gateway Mall 2 on October 6.

A eucharistic celebration presided by Rev. Fr. Ronnie Santos of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish (OLPH) signaled the enthronement of the Marian image at the City of Firsts. Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, Quezon City 3rd District Congressman Franz Pumaren, and the city councils attended the holy mass together with the congregation of OLPH, Marian devotees, and patrons of Araneta City.

“Tayong lahat ay nagkakatipon para sa pagdarasal sa Panginoon. . . At ang pagdarasal ay ugnayan ng ating kalooban at ng Panginoon. Nawa’y sundin natin ang tatlong sangkap para mataimtim na pagdarasal: Katahimikan, Pagalaala, at Paglilingkod. Sa pamamagitan nito nawa’y mapuno tayo ng pagmamahal at magliyab ang ating debosyon sa pagdarasal ng banal sa rosaryo,” (We are united in one through our intercession with Christ . . . A prayer connects our heart to Christ. May we follow the three facets of paying: Silence, Remembrance and Servitude. With this may we be filled with love and fervorin our devotion in praying the most holy rosary), said by Fr. Santos in his Homily.

It was a prayer-filled day at the Sagrada Familia Church, with four Eucharistic celebrations and Holy Rosary novena prayers held in turn by different Quezon City parishes. The Coronation, Jubilee prayers, offering of flowers, and morning mass were presided by OLPH. A video presentation and talk was organized by Sto. Domino Church. The afternoon novena and 3PM mass (offered by Councilors Kate Coseteng and Chuckie Antonio) were presided by the St. John Paul II and San Roque Parishes. The 5PM mass (offered by Councilors Don De Leon and Wency Lagumbay) was ushered in by the Nativity of the Lord Parish and the Transfiguration of the Lord Parish. The 7PM (sponsored by Councilors Geleen Lumbad and Anton Reyes) was led by the Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Parish, St. Joseph Shrine, and the Christ the King Parish.

A Harana Kay Maria was gifted by Rev. Fr. William Garcia with the Solemne Choir to serenade the Blessed Mother of Christ. A fireworks display lit up the Araneta City skyline to conclude the ceremonies.

The feast of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, La Naval de Manila, is known as one of the biggest Marian processions in the Philippines. It commemorates the 1646 victories of Filipino-Spanish naval forces against Dutch invaders, all attributed to La Naval de Manila.

A grand procession and motorcade will be held on October 7, 8 AM in Araneta City to send off the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, La Naval de Manila to Quezon Memorial Circle.

The enthronement of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, La Naval de Manila at the Sagrada Familia Church in the New Gateway Mall 2 opens the commemoration of the Month of the Holy Rosary in Araneta City. Marian devotees may also visit the Santo Rosario Exhibit in Ali Mall from October 9 to 22 in honor of the month-long celebration.
