Smart Araneta Coliseum receives Safety Seal certificate
After serving as a mega vaccination site and reopening for select virtual events, the historic Smart Araneta Coliseum achieves another milestone this pandemic as it becomes one of the first and biggest indoor venues in the country to receive a Safety Seal certificate.
In a ceremony held on November 18, the Big Dome was given the Safety Seal for its strict compliance with the minimum public health standards set by the government.
Present during the event were Margie Santos, head of the Quezon City Business Permits and Licensing Department (BPLD); Irene Jose, COO of Uniprom Inc. (the entertainment arm of the Araneta Group); Antonio Mardo, SVP for Operations of the Araneta Group; and Noel Leonor, Chief of Staff of the Araneta Group.
Smart Araneta Coliseum received the Safety Seal certificate after passing the rigorous inspection of Quezon City’s Safety Seal Certification Committee. “The Safety Seal is a testament that we are continuously working with the government in keeping Smart Araneta Coliseum a safe multi-purpose venue," Jose said.
An iconic and sought-after indoor events venue in the country, the Big Dome was forced to close its doors for live events due to the pandemic. It opened this year only for essential functions such as Quezon City's mega COVID-19 vaccination program, and for virtual presentations such as the Wish FM Awards Night and the Binibining Pilipinas Grand Coronation Night.
With the easing of the quarantine restrictions, the coliseum management is now preparing for the resumption of live events once allowed by the government
"With this certificate, we are showing that we are ready to welcome the public back. And, we will make sure that necessary protocols will remain in place to keep everyone -- the event organizers, promoters, our partners and corporate clients, and the audience -- safe in the Big Dome," Jose added.
